Barry served on the Village of Loreburn Council. Six years as a councillor and 20 years as Mayor. He was a member of the Loreburn Lion's Club for over 55 years. Barry was employed at Han's Store and was an agent and manager at both the old and new UGG elevators. He served on the Outlook Home Board and was on the Board of Stewards for the United Church.
During his younger years he enjoyed playing ball, hockey, curling, golfing and fishing. During one of his last rounds of golf he was fortunate enough to sink a hole-in-one. Barry was a great dancer as many ladies would agree.
Barry loved spending time with his family. Many days were spent at sporting events and watching them take part in a multitude of activities,
The family has enjoyed the cabin that Barry and Shirley built at Mistussine. They have spent a lot of time congregating there during the summer months.
Barry was a farmer and took tremendous pride in being one. The farm was a very special place for him. He loved to travel and took many hot holidays with family and friends.
Barry was a generous man and the community reaped the benefits of him devoting his time. He in turn appreciated all the friendship and kindness shown to him over the years.
After a 2 month stay in Dinsmore, the last two years were spent in The Outlook Home. He received exceptional care. The staff treated him like they would their own family members and became good friends and with heartfelt gratitude we thank all of the wonderful caregivers.
