Obituary For Beverly Grace Warren

Beverly Grace Warren, beloved wife and mother, passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 76 at her home in Milan, Tennessee, after a brave battle with cancer.

Beverly was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada, on April 13, 1945, to Blanche (née McDonald) and Ted Veeman. She spent her childhood on her parents’ farm in the Macrorie District of Saskatchewan. Never a girl to sit still, she won multiple footraces and field events for her school team and showed prize-winning heifers for 4-H. She graduated from Outlook High School as valedictorian in 1963. She went on to attend the University of Saskatchewan where she graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1968.

At a school dance during the first weekend of her freshman year in university, Bev caught the eye of the love of her life, Kenneth R.W. Warren. They married on September 3, 1966, and graduated with nursing and medical degrees on the same day in May 1968. They went on to live in Burnaby, British Columbia, where Bev took her first nursing job at Royal Columbian Hospital, and then moved to Tillsonburg, Ontario, where Bev taught at the Woodstock School of Nursing before starting a family. In 1978, Beverly and her family moved to the United States, where they settled briefly in Picayune, Mississippi, before making their home in Milan, Tennessee, in 1979.

Bev’s enthusiasm for life continued in Milan and Jackson, where she was a devoted wife, mother, nurse and community volunteer. The many community organizations she supported include Milan Junior Auxiliary; Mothers’ Clubs of Episcopal Day School and University School of Jackson; the Milan Parks & Recreation Department, where she served as a board member; and Regional Hospital of Jackson, where she served on the Women’s Advisory Council.

A talented seamstress, Bev used her skills to sew costumes and was always at the ready with a needle and thread to solve any costuming emergency for the Nite Lite Theatre in Trenton and for Ballet Arts of Jackson, where she also participated as a member of the board. Her diverse hobbies included gardening and running with the Jackson Road Runners, often winning her age group in 5Ks.

Later in life, Bev was a loving Nana to her four grandchildren. She also discovered that she had a knack for golf, and she and Ken spent many happy mornings golfing at Humboldt Golf & Country Club.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Kenneth Warren of Milan, Tennessee; her son, Galen (Melissa) Warren, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and his children, Josh and Anna; her daughter, Andria (Ivan) Kozak, of Houston, Texas, and her children Warren and Grace; and two brothers, Terry (Michele) Veeman of Edmonton, Alberta, and Glenn Veeman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Our beloved Beverly fought her battle with determination and grace, never complaining, always thinking of others, and possessing a beautiful spirit and sense of humor to the end. Her family would like to express their deep gratitude for the love and support of her dear friends and caregivers during her final illness.

A private memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date, and the family suggests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan or the charity of your choice.
