Obituary For Clifford Arnold Johnston

In Loving Memory of Clifford Arnold Johnston
July 31, 1943 – December 30, 2024

Clifford Arnold Johnston passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on July 31, 1943, Cliff was raised on a farm in Strongfield, Saskatchewan, alongside his five siblings.

After completing his schooling, Cliff worked on the Gardiner Dam, an experience that sparked his adventurous spirit and took him to British Columbia and Alberta before he ultimately returned to Saskatchewan to make his home in Conquest.

Cliff had a lifelong love for vehicles, from restoring classic cars to fine-tuning hot rods. His mechanical skills were unmatched, and he could make any vehicle run like new. Cliff also enjoyed boating and snowmobiling, always knowing the best spots for adventure. A passionate skier, he shared this love with his children, creating cherished memories on the slopes. In retirement, he found peace and joy in simple drives through the countryside.

Cliff was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Joy Johnston; his sisters, Shirley and Lorraine; and his beloved wife, Lil. He leaves behind his daughter, Carmen (Todd) and grandson Owen; his son, Craig (Korin) and grandchildren Aiden, Michaela, and Cairys; his sisters, Audrey (Gery) and Lynne (Mark); his brother, Ralph; brother-in-law Peter; many nieces and nephews; and his partner, Danita.

Cliff’s family has chosen cremation, and a celebration of his life with family and friends will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Cliff’s memory by taking a drive in the countryside, enjoying the peace and beauty he loved so much.

Condolences

To Carmen, Craig, Danita, Audrey, Lynne and families, I offer my condolences. Although I visited, interacted and played music with Cliff only a few times during our lives, I always enjoyed his welcoming nature, his sense of humour and his dazzling saxophone wizardry. I know he will be missed.

Cliff and I had many adventures together on the farm and at U of S. The Johnstons had a track around the garden and a horse called Daisy who pulled a small wagon for us. We also had a dance band which produced a little spending money. My sincere condolences to the Johnston family
