Don Kenneth was born December 19, 1969, to Ken and Doris Watt (Anderson) in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan and passed away on Friday, August 16th, 2024 from complications following surgery. He grew up on the family farm with his parents and sisters, Heather and Terry. Even as a young boy, agriculture was a very important aspect of his life!
Don attended school in Coderre and then went on to attend Voc-Ag at the University of Saskatchewan. When he returned from university, he was known to be a friend to all the young people in the area. He was kind and generous with a great sense of humour. Agriculture ran deep through his veins and it began with work on the family farm. Later he graduated to working on neighbouring farms until he started his career with the Co-op. He was a valued employee at both Shamrock and Beechy Co-ops. Later, he moved back to his favourite path which was working for a farmer and doing what he truly loved. In 2015 Don sustained a life-altering head injury which resulted in him suffering from headaches daily. The next chapter in his life took him to work with Simplot Growers Solutions. There was no question about it, Don was a true farmer at heart.
When Don wasn’t farming he spent his time giving back to his community. Some of these included Shamrock Lions, Shamrock Park, and lending a hand wherever he could. When he moved to Beechy it didn’t take him very long to start ‘helping out” with the rink, working in the rink kitchen, working with minor hockey and joining the Rodeo Committee. He joined the Beechy Fire Department where he spent many of his years as a Deputy Fire Chief. Don spent countless hours helping others. Things like snow blowing driveways or helping move something heavy, but most importantly putting a smile on the face of those he met.
While agriculture and helping people out were important to Don, the most important things in his life were his family. He married Diane Jensen, on October 26, 1996, and started the happiest chapter of his life. They welcomed their son, Dylan into their lives in May 2001.
Don is survived by his wife Diane, son Dylan; sisters Heather (Rene) and children Jack (Glynn) and Wendell (Kaleen) and Terry (Mario) and children Nigel (Jodi); Rebecca (Kevin); Megan (Kale) and Hannah; brother-in-law Wade (Astraea), children Taryn and Talon; Aunts Lorna and Marilyn, Uncle Brian (Maureen); and Aunts and Uncles-in-law Shirley (Rae); Barbara (Kevin); Lorna; Phyllis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Don was predeceased by his father Kenneth; mother Doris (Anderson); step-father Robert Gunningham; mother-in-law Donna Jensen; and infant brother Robert.
In place of flowers memorial donations may be made to Beechy Fire Department Box 85 Beechy, SK S0L 0C0; or STARS at 1441 Aviation Park NE Box 570 Calgary, AB T2E 8M7.
The family appreciates all those who have supported them and continue to support them during this difficult time. We want you to help us celebrate everything that brought so much joy to his life. Please go forward knowing that his biggest accomplishment is all the people that were part of his life.
