Emmy was born to Beatha and John Wetterlund, the youngest of 6 children. She attended grade and high school in Sturgis, Saskatchewan.
Emmy graduated from Normal School in 1949 then taught grades 1 - 8 in Ketchen and Strongfield, Saskatchewan.
Lyle and Emmy were married on July 18, 1953 in Sturgis, Sask. They then settled on the Amy farm at Conquest, where they raised 4 children.
All while raising a family, operating a cattle and grain farm, Emmy was very active in the Conquest community. She was involved in the United Church in several aspects, including Sunday school, as well as superintendent for a few years. For many years, Emmy was also a member of the Royal Purple. Mom and Dad operated the Shop-Rite Grocery store in
Conquest from 1987 - 1993 which continued their community involvement. Coffee was always on and cookies in the jar for all the friends and family that stopped by for a visit at the farm.
She was very adept at “Do It Yourself” projects around the house and yard and included upholstery, sewing, painting and her beautiful flower beds.
In 2005, Mom and Dad retired and moved from the farm to Luther Place in Outlook. They continued to participate in church and community activities until 2016, when Mom entered long term care.
Mom will be forever missed and well remembered for her love, caring, compassion and understanding.
