It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Manfred Oliver Dahl on March 27th, 2023, at the age of 87 years. Manny is survived by his daughters
Diane (Randy) Sanjenko, Wendy (Lincoln), and Kristin (Shane) Arthurs, son Geoff (Alicia), grandchildren Sarah, Nathan, Dylan, Maisie, and Aillis, greatgrandchildren Fallyn and Willa, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Sandra, grandson Mason, sisters Ruth, Myrtle, Charlotte, and baby Charlotte, and brothers Lloyd, Arnold, Victor, and Emil. Manny was born to Chris and Martha Dahl on March 31st, 1935, on the family farm north of Broderick. He attended Eden Valley, Broderick, Duperow, and Biggar schools and then left school to farm with his father and brothers. As a young man, Manny loved to curl and play ball. He married Vivian Matheson in
1956, and together they spent many years farming. In the early 70s, he pioneered pivot irrigation in the Outlook area. Following retirement, Manny moved to
Saskatoon and became an avid gardener. He was well-known for his preserves – jams, pickles, and vegetables, and he bartered his fresh produce for the signature dishes of others. Not surprisingly, Manny was a devoted Roughrider fan – refusing to watch games with others to ensure he did not miss a play. Manny was indebted to Dr. Parker, who he invariably acknowledged as responsible for his long life. During his last days, Manny reflected on how he had spent his precious time – content with a life caring for others – his children, widowed mother, sister, and grandchildren, and to his last days, providing a caring home for his friends. Manny will be deeply missed by his family and dear friends Cori, Mike, and Jim, but we are comforted knowing he has joined the many friends and family that have preceded his departure into the next life.
