Modern Service With Traditional Dignity

Helping Families Honor The Lives of Those They Love

Outlook Funeral Chapel is family owned and has been an institution in Outlook and surrounding communities since the early 1960’s.

We encourage you to browse the pages of our website. We hope it will provide you with knowledge and information to help with making the difficult decisions. We are caring, empathetic and sensitive to the needs of the families we serve in the Outlook area and surrounding communities that include, but that are not limited to: Broderick, Glenside, Strongfield, Hawarden, Hanley, Loreburn, Elbow, Conquest, Milden, Ardath, Swanson, Donavon, Delisle, Dinsmore, Demaine, Wiseton, Macrorie, Birsay, Lucky Lake, Rosetown and Beechy.

At Outlook Funeral Chapel we feel that the funeral experience should not constitute a financial hardship. That’s why, when service arrangements are made, we consult with the family to find the best venue and value available to accommodate the personal needs and wishes of the family.

We are proud to support local economy by using area Churches and Town Halls, Rinks or Community Centers, in Outlook and surrounding communities, for services or luncheons. This provides a major source of funding for the upkeep of these facilities in our communities and rural areas. We also promote the use of local florists, printers, backhoe operators and community caterers, restaurants or church groups to provide services for the families we serve.

A Brief History

In the fall of 1904,  Thomas Kasper, his brother and their mother arrived in the Broderick area. They were meeting Thomas’ father, Andrew and an older brother who had already homesteaded north of Broderick, in the spring of 1904. Early housing for Andrew and his son was an overturned wagon box. When the rest of the family arrived, home was a cellar with a central pole and thatched roof. 1905 was the year of the new house. John Kasper, Megan’s Dad, was the second son born to Thomas and Anna. The value of hard work and family were some of the lessons that has been passed down through the generations to Thomas’ descendants.

On May 1, 1904 Duncan Bennett began building his homestead east of Broderick. Duncan, his brother and their father had come to the prairies from Ontario. The first winter was a cold one, as a tent was their only means of shelter.  Kathey, who is Duncan’s granddaughter and the first born child to Mac and Kay, is Megan’s mother. The Bennett families learned from a young age that everyone shared in the work, whether in the field,  garden or house.

These stories and characteristics were the backbone of Megan’s upbringing. Being raised on the family farm where hard work, family, community and helping your fellow neighbor were regular events of rural life. Growing up in the country meant many warm memories of tractors and cows and riding her horse through the fields. Megan comes from a large family with some of her siblings still residing in the Broderick area. Throughout life, the one surety that Megan could count on was that when things are at their worst, family was always available for support and unwavering love. This is one of the reasons why coming home has always been a goal.

Megan truly feels that her rural upbringing plays a huge part in what drew her to the funeral service. When a loved one passes away the community gathers not only to celebrate that life, but also to show the family left behind that they are not alone. Families coming together, neighbors helping neighbors, everyone demonstrating their support in whatever way they can is truly the pioneer spirit.

Megan began her foray into the funeral service industry in 2009. She has had the opportunity to work in different communities and funeral homes around Saskatchewan. Megan’s years in the funeral service have always included a goal to move back to Outlook. Through the years, she has had conversations with Floyd and Marjorie that whenever they were ready to retire, she would be honored to carry on the legacy of Outlook Funeral Chapel.

Outlook Funeral Chapel is a long-standing tradition in the community that requires little change; but Megan brings with her new technologies, different options, ideas and services that will continue and expand the service and value to families in the area. Not everyone finds solace in a church and not everyone wants an outdoor service; therefore, working with new and different ideas allows Megan to plan and facilitate meaningful services for families of all religions and walks of life.
