It is with great sadness that the family of Alfred Ardell Knutson announce his passing on July 21, 2024, at the age of 78, at the Kindersley Union Hospital.
Alfred was born in Lafleche, Sask on July 26, 1945. Alfred attended country schools Pebble Hill, Varsity and McCord until grade 8. He finished his grade 10 at Glentworth high school. Alfred enrolled in Tech School when he was 17, to become a mechanic. While at school in Moose Jaw, he met the love of his life, Helen Douglas. Alfred’s first job was at Frostad’s garage in Kincaid. He returned to Moose Jaw to
work at a Dodge dealership. He and Helen then moved to Calgary, Alta. In 1976, they moved to Helen’s home farm near Kindersley, Sask where he resided for the remainder of his life. Alfred found satisfaction in being a mechanic, but he preferred
to farm. His passion was playing his guitar and singing with his and. He would even stop in the middle of seeding or harvest for the opportunity to play music with his little brother Russel. Later years found Alfred at the Kindersley Museum volunteering. He was happy repairing old tractors, spraying weeds and plowing snow. Alfred is survived by his wife Helen; daughter Bernice; son John (Jennifer); grandchildren JD (Kasey), Jessica (Kyle) Andrew; brothers Vernon (Colleen), Carmen (Ann); sister nMadeline (Ron) Cutting; sister-in-law Glenda (Russel†); and numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred was predeceased by his parents Arnold and Edna, brother Russel; sister-in-law Victoria; niece Andrea Cutting; father and mother-in-law John and Velma Douglas.
