Beulah “Bea” Marion (nee Murrell) Schinold
1926 – 2023
Bea was born in Luseland Saskatchewan to Jessie (nee Pearce) and Rueben Murrell. She attended School in Luseland. After finishing school, she joined the army, training in Kitchener Ontario, where she packed parachutes.
When her stint in the army was done, she applied for a position as a Nanny for a local Elbow family. It was during this time she met her future husband, George Schinold. George and Bea were married on the Schinold family farm on January 27, 1948. They settled on the family farm in the valley south of Elbow. Later moving to their own little house south of the Schinold family farm, this is where their two daughters Holly and Donna were born. In 1960 they built a new home and moved to Elbow; their youngest daughter Karen completed the family in 1961. They enjoyed their life in town and enjoyed many of the winter activities especially curling. George and Bea continued to farm until the mid 80’s when they sold the land and retired.
After their retirement they had the opportunity to do some travelling. Hawaii, Mexico, Maritimes, New York, and many other shorter bus excursions. Bea had many interests; she was a member of the Elbow United Church and UCW. Bea enjoyed gardening and always managed to put away a nice amount of fruit and vegetables for the winter. She was all about keeping fit, she enjoyed her walks and bike rides in the evening. Once the Harbour golf course opened, they took up golfing. From the armchair perspective Bea loved her Blue Jays baseball, and even more so The Saskatchewan Roughriders. They had season tickets to the Rider games for many years.
George passed away in 2003. After a few years of living on her own, she found it exceedingly difficult to get around properly, so she moved to Central Butte to Iver Main personal care home, then later to the Regency Manor where she resided until her passing on December 5, 2023, at age 97.
Bea is predeceased by her parents; three sisters and one brother; husband George; and youngest daughter Karen. She is survived by two sisters, Iris & Sylvia: her daughter Holly (Dave) Masters, and son Tyler (Rachel). Daughter Donna Brown; and children Brendan (Leslee) Brown children Avery and Colter; Aaron (Rachel) Brown daughter Charlotte. Son-in-law Mark Stronski, children Kimberley, Megan, and Brian. A private service will be held for Bea in June at Elbow. Donations in Bea’s memory can be sent to Regency Manor Central Butte, or Elbow United Church.
