Byrdie Zboril, born on July 20, 1932, in Empress, Alberta, was the first of eight children born to Haldor and Evelyn (nee Knoble) Kristensen. Her siblings include Irene (Tommy†) Scaife, Hilda who passed away shortly after birth, Agnes† (Gilbert Gregoryk†), Karl† (Pita†), Ursula (Walter) Roach, Norma (Lorne†) Summerfelt, and Alfred (Cathy).
Byrdie's life was a testament to resilience and love. She leaves behind a legacy in her children: Larry (Adele) and his daughter Nichole, Jeffrey (Beverly) and their sons Derek and Dennis and daughter Brittany, Nola (Dean) and their sons Brian and Scott, Leona† (Todd) and their daughters Alexandra and Danika, and Betty. Her six great-grandchildren—Austin, Bentley, Carson, Brooklyn, Carter, and Spencer—will carry forward her spirit and values. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and generosity.
Byrdie and all her siblings attended school in Moose Lake, Saskatchewan, enduring a two-and-a-half-mile walk from home. She was held back a year so she would walk with her sister Irene for the remainder of their school days. After school, she dedicated herself to caregiving, first working for a family with a disabled son in Paddockwood, Sask. and later for her grandfather, Bart, in Prelate, Sask., until his passing. Her nurturing spirit led her to Outlook Bible College, where she studied to become a nurse's aide and secured a job at Outlook Hospital. It was here that she met the love of her life, Roy Gordon Zboril.
Byrdie and Roy were married on February 1, 1956, sharing 45 beautiful years together. They farmed and raised their family in Strongfield, Sask. before moving to Kelwood, MB, where they spent the next 15 years. Upon retirement, they returned to their roots in Saskatchewan, first to Bigger, Sask. and then to Outlook, Sask. Byrdie found joy in the simple pleasures of life—knitting, crocheting, quilting, and spending time with friends at church coffee gatherings. She was a pillar of her community, actively volunteering for SACL and Donor's Choice.
Byrdie's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to family, hard work, and community. Her love and dedication were the foundation of her family's strength, and her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories filled with love, laughter, and a profound sense of belonging.

My deepest sympathy to you all on the passing of your Mom, Byrdie. I was planning on attending the funeral but unfortunately I received my "Outlook" paper (in Saskatoon) the day after her funeral. Sorry I missed it but did live stream. I have fond memories of both your Mom & Dad as we shared many Christmas' together when in McCreary / Kelwood. May the wonderful memories of your Mom help ease the pain your now feel. Thought & prayers. Brenda Derdall (Joe & Muriel Morgan's daughter)
