In Loving Memory of Darryl Gordon Johnson
June 30, 1956 – November 23, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darryl Gordon Johnson of Broderick, SK. Darryl passed away at the Outlook and District Health Centre on November 23, 2024, at the age of 68.
Darryl was born in Outlook, SK, on June 30, 1956, and grew up on the family farm, where he developed a deep appreciation for hard work and the land. Throughout his life, Darryl embraced a variety of roles, but farming and driving his beloved Kenworth truck which was later upgraded to a Western Star were his greatest sources of fulfillment and pride.
A man of quiet demeanor and simple needs, Darryl was happiest surrounded by his friends and family. He cherished his new home and shop, his truck, and his meticulously restored 1964 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Known for his infectious giggle, a glass of whiskey in hand, and a warm smile, Darryl brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Darryl was predeceased by his father, Gordon Otis Johnson, on August 23, 2012. He leaves behind his loving mother, Evelyn Johnson; his brothers, Larry and Reg; his sister, Lois (Lionel) Sawatzky; his nieces, Carla (James), Angie (Dustin), and Kaylee (Eric); his nephew, Christopher (Alyssa); and his great-nieces and nephews, Brittany (Zach), Sydney (Tommy), Carter, Ethan, Abby, and Sita. He is also fondly remembered by his Auntie May, Auntie Linda, and a host of cousins, friends, and neighbors who were touched by his kindness and humor.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery, Broderick, SK. All are welcome to attend. Following the graveside service, a time of fellowship and remembrance will take place at the Heritage Centre in Outlook, SK, at 3:00 p.m. Donations in Darryl’s memory may be directed to Green Valley Lutheran Church (Box 1183, Outlook, SK, S0L 2N0).
Darryl will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, forever remembered for his gentle spirit, hard work, and the warmth he brought to the lives of others.
