David Bruce Anderson was born the second of seven children to Norman and Elaine (Nelson) Anderson in Litchfield, Minnesota, on July 12, 1951. Following several years of health challenges and recent surgeries, he passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 7, 2023, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Dave grew up in a Swedish-American family in Cokato, Minnesota, where his boyhood included athletic activities, delivering newspapers, working
on his uncle’s farm, and school life. He graduated high school in 1969.
Upon graduation, Dave moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he came to more deeply know Laestadian Lutheran believers and began his journey in living
faith. He then moved to Minneapolis where he was employed at Warden Oil Company.
On October 5, 1974, Dave was united in marriage to Marion Dolores Simonson in Minneapolis. In 1977, they moved to Marion’s home area in Saskatchewan, Canada. They lived in Macrorie and later settled in Outlook. In 1987, Dave and Marion were blessed by the birth of a son, Joel David. Outlook remained the now-complete Anderson family’s home.
Dave was employed in both automotive and agricultural parts departments (John Deere, GM). With his abiding interest in the tech world, he later worked for Thorstad Computers Inc. Most recently, he worked part time for Dynamic Auto Body.
Dave served for many years as a pastor, bible class teacher, and board member at Outlook Laestadian Lutheran Church. He also served the continent-wide Laestadian Lutheran Church as a board member and on speaking trips.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife Marion and his parents Norman and Elaine. He is survived by his son Joel (Kristina), brothers Joel and Steve, and
sisters Jane (Terry), Sharon (Shari), Susan (Ron), and Margaret; Simonson brothers and sisters-in-law: Shirley; Diane (Paul) Waaraniemi; Lloyd (Carol);
Lois; Ruth (Neil) Waaraniemi; Laura; Judy; Charlene (Dean) Simonson; Norman (Anne-Marie) and Michael (Kathy); many nieces, nephews, friends, and brothers and sisters in faith.
Dave was a warm and open-hearted person who thrived on making connections with people. He was a natural-born storyteller. Intensely curious, he was well-read and loved conversation on a wide variety of topics.
A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Laestadian Lutheran Church of Elk River, 8595 201st Ave NW, Nowthen, Minnesota, USA.

When we were boys I spent many summers at the family farm with my cousin David Bruce. Even at that early age he had a caring soul, and was a good friend. I'm glad we had time to catch up, and I was able to tell him how much his friendship meant to me in those days. - David Winston
