Born - Laurel Robin May 9, 1961 - March 4, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Laurel Born (nee Torvik)
She is survived by her mother Lynne (Fred) Miller (nee Sandvold); sister Jacque (Lisa) Torvik; sons Dustin (Kim) Born, and Drew (Jan) Born; grandchildren Emmitt, Lily, Rowan, and Oliver; nephews Aaron (Mel) Torvik, and Kyle Gardner. She will be sorely missed by all, including numerous other family members and friends. Laurel was predeceased by her father Darryl Torvik; grandparents Opal and Lovern Sandvold and Inger Munro.
Laurel was born to Lynne and Darryl in Outlook SK., and resided in Macrorie SK., until 1967, then moved to Calgary AB., where she grew up and went to school ending at Lord Beaverbrook High.
After marrying and having her first bundle of joy Dustin, she returned to Saskatoon, then on to Martensville SK., where along came baby Drew and soon after started her career at Saskatoon Convalescent Home as a Home Care Nurse. Later she returned to her roots, of Outlook SK., working as a Long Term Care Aide in the Outlook Hospital where she loved her job caring for her patients and made an impact on many seniors’ lives there.
Laurel eventually became a grandmother of 4 whom she loved dearly with her whole heart.
Some of her hobbies included crocheting and making beautiful quilts and other crafts such as beading and in the summer enjoyed tending to her patio flowers and tomato plants.
We would like to thank the Outlook Hospital and staff for caring for her in her final days. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Macrorie SK., where she will be laid to rest.
