Lyle passed away at the Outlook District Health Center at the age of 77. He was born in Outlook and started his schooling in a country one-room schoolhouse where his mom was teaching, in Eden Valley, then continued his education at Nary and Outlook schools.
Lyle thoroughly enjoyed his work and had numerous positions that included working in Alberta with C.J. Oliver; he surveyed at Gardiner Dam, in the Yukon and the Northwest Territories for an oil company. He spent time doing some building at Cominco Potash mine and was also the tech engineer when he was working in Ontario. Lyle came home to purchase his parents farm and while he farmed, he also did some land leveling and surveying for the irrigation district. He was very gifted in many areas and especially loved working with wood; he was always building and creating. He was predeceased by his parents Gust and Grace Derdall and his son Kirk. He is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vickie, sisters Enid (Hermon), Anne (Helmut), Michelle (Glen), brothers Brian (Gail), John (Kim), many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
