Martin Orin A. Martinson
1968 – 2024
It is with profound sorrow that the family of Martin "Marty" Martinson announces his sudden passing on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the age of 56.
Marty was born in Saskatoon on May 16, 1968, to Iver and Carol Martinson. He attended Dalmeny Elementary School and Hanley Composite School. Leaving high school early, Marty embarked on a career in the pipeline industry, a path he passionately pursued.
On April 29, 2000, Marty married Patricia, and together they spent 20 years raising their family. At the age of 32, Marty proudly became the father of his twin daughters, Kierra and Sydney, whom he raised with devotion until they reached adulthood. In the spring of 2021, Marty found love again with Brenda Heistad, with whom he shared his final years.
Marty lived a life filled with purpose, dedicating himself to his work, family, and passions. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and embracing every moment of the life he built. A proud member of Local 955 and Local 92, Marty was deeply respected by his colleagues and pipeline family.
Known for his selflessness, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the happiness of those around him, Marty brought joy and comfort to everyone he encountered.
Marty’s passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of his beloved daughters, Kierra, and Sydney Martinson; his devoted soulmate, Brenda Heistad; his loving mother, Carol Martinson; his caring siblings; and extended family. His pipeline family, who became an integral part of his life, will also profoundly feel his loss.
Marty was predeceased by his father, Iver Olie Martinson, whose strength and values shaped his life.
Those who knew Marty will forever remember his warm heart, generous spirit, and the love he shared so freely. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private family service will be held in Marty’s honor. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
