Obituary For Mary Sylvia Lockwood

Mary Sylvia Lockwood

December 9, 1934 – September 20, 2024

Mary Lockwood, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 at the age of 89.

Mary spent much of her career in customer service, where many would have encountered her welcoming smile as a grocery cashier. During her and Fred’s earlier years, she also managed the office for their Esso bulk fuel business. Mary’s kindness knew no bounds; she had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and included. The devilish and practical joker side of her sometimes meant that your shoes could be tied together—but she was always the first to lend a helping hand when someone was in need. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to Judy, Jesse, and Anna, and a proud great-grandmother to Ruthie.

Mary and Fred shared 59 years of marriage, celebrating their last summer together in 2019 before Fred’s passing that winter.

She leaves behind her children: Lloyd (Wendy) Lockwood, and their daughter Judy (Lee) Genereux and great-granddaughter Ruth; Julie (Denis) Gilbertson, and grandchildren Jesse and Anna. Mary is also survived by a brother, sister, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will take place at the Outlook Cemetery, Outlook, SK, on October 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Fellowship will follow at the Outlook Legion Hall, Outlook, SK. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada in memory of Mary.

Hello Julie, Lloyd and all your family; I am sorry to know of Mary's passing, but in her typical independent way, she would be pleased that she was not dependent on anyone for more than those few days. She was truly a Kerslake, through and through. I remember going to their wedding and thinking it was so beautiful. I was hoping I could attend her service and get to re-meet both of you again as it has been many years. However, I will be away travelling with a friend and I am sorry. Take good care. Sincerely Diane Kerslake McDougall (2nd daughter to Ernie & Anne)

Mary was a friendly, fun-loving person who loved to laugh and have a good time. She was always there during my childhood in Conquest, and then in later years, in Outlook. She will be missed by many in those communities. Diane & Myles Myrol
