Murray Lyman Peardon
1920 - 2023
The family of Murray Lyman Peardon wish to announce the peaceful passing of their dear father, grandfather and great grandfather on Friday November 17th at Sherbrooke Nursing Home, Saskatoon, surrounded by family.Lyman was born on the family farm in Loreburn, Saskatchewan on December 25th, 1920, to Wilbert and Sarah Jane Peardon. Lyman was one of six sons and had eight sisters. Lyman spent his childhood and teen years helping his Dad and brothers on the farm and delivering milk by horse and wagon. In 1941 Dad joined the RCAF and left home for four years serving in the Airforce during WWII. Upon returning home, Dad started farming with his Father and stayed on the farm till 2021. On December 3, 1948, Dad married Fern Fiske and they spent the next 72 years together until her passing in July 2021.
After his wife passed away Lyman went to live at Sherbrooke Nursing home in Saskatoon until his passing. There he received wonderful care and compassion. Often, comments were made by his daily caregivers about what a gentleman Dad was. He appreciated all they did for him and always said a “thank you” after every deed. Dad was incredibly involved in his community and church. He held position of President of the Loreburn Lions Club and held positions as Elder and Steward in the United Church, he also served on the Credit Union board. Dad loved sports and was an avid curler. He also coached and managed his son’s hockey teams. In later years Lyman and Fern spent winters in Arizona enjoying golf and the desert heat. Upon selling their winter home they spent their winters in Saskatoon but always returned to the farm for the summer. Fern and Lyman loved following their grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events and concerts. Family was everything to them. We will miss Dad’s sense of humor and quick wit. He made us laugh. We will be talking about his stories for years to come. Dad was such a kind and gentle soul and although quiet his presence was undeniable.
Dad is survived by his daughters Faye (Warren) Ganes and Lynne (Steve) Knutson; son Deryl (Barbara); and his sister Mona Willoughby. He is survived by fourteen grandchildren - Christy, Jarod, Michael, Carey, Steven, Travis, Kevin, Jody, Cory, Ryan, Nathan, Megan, Scott, and Whitney. Twenty-four great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Ron, Gerald (Sylvia) and Allan (Bernadine); sisters-in-law Maxine, Helen, and Wendy (Barry), daughters-in-law Trish (Jeff) McAdam and Heather Peardon. Lyman was predeceased by his wife Fern; sons Dean, Gary, and Michael; brothers Willard, Stanley, Harold, Glenn, and Jimmy; sisters Jean, Norma, Velvet, Mae, Merle, June, and Patricia; and daughter-in-law Cindy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Harbor Golf Community Center, Elbow, SK on May 18, 2024; time to be announced. A private family interment will take place. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
