Myra Elaine Hiebert was born to Bennie and Lillian Hiebert, on February 2, 1959. At the age of one and a half years old, her little life was disrupted when twin sisters arrived, followed by five more siblings. She started school at Fort Vermilion, Alberta, when Dad and Mom were there on the mission, and continued into Dr. Elliot School where she completed grade ten. Myra spent her happy childhood years at Linden, Alberta. She found the Lord and was baptized January 1, 1974, into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, and stayed true to her vows. In 1980, she moved with her family to Donavon, Saskatchewan. There she started a bakery with Donna Regehr, followed by owning and operating Myra’s Little Bakeshop for 8 years. Later she taught for 5 years at Swanson
Christian School, which she loved.
Myra was a true caregiver at heart, right to the end. Among the many places she served was Linden Nursing Home; Hilltop Mission; and then Parkridge Center for 20 years, many of which were spent on the
Alzheimer’s ward. She made many lifelong friends working there.
In March of 2022, Myra was diagnosed with cancer after being sick for a year. Her strong faith in God became deeper in the last year. We as a family made so many memories. She had a lot of family and many
friends who supported her, and she loved every visit. She had a love for sewing all through the years. We knew she was having a good day if she was sitting at her sewing machine. She poured a lot of love into everyone she met and was known to be a loyal friend.
We are really going to miss our big sister, especially Audrey who lived with her for many years. Surrounded by loved ones in the hospital, she
passed away on July 18, 2023. Her life’s work was done.
Left with precious memories: Fern and Bernie Thiessen, Faye and Maynard Froese, Lucille and Bob Bartel, Phyllis and Kelly Loewen, Audrey Hiebert, Merle and Melanie Hiebert, Vivian and Shane McQuaker. Nieces and Nephews: Brad (Fran), Lorraine (Dan), Bethany (Matt), Katy (Aaron),
